Miss Intercontinental Crown
Since 1971

About Miss Intercontinental

Five decades of celebrating beauty, intelligence, and cultural diplomacy on the world stage — and Bangladesh's place in that story.

Born on the Shores
of Aruba

Miss Intercontinental began in 1971 as a promotional tourism event on the island of Aruba. On a beach in Oranjestad, 35 women dressed in red one-piece bathing suits competed for the very first crown — a modest start that would grow into one of the most enduring beauty pageants in the world.

The event drew strong television ratings from the start, and what began as a local competition quickly became an annual international event, expanding across continents throughout the 1970s and beyond.
